Shutting down proftpd: [ FAILED ]
Starting proftpd: io.erdius.net - Fatal: Socket operation on non-socket
io.erdius.net - (Running from command line? Use ServerType standalone' in config file!)
[ FAILED ]
I tried reinstalling the rpms off of the disk, and expanded the templates, and did a service proftpd restart, and the error above is what i go.
what does it mean?

It means that you did a "service proftpd restart". Don't do that.

Oke dont do that...but wat do I do then?
I have the same problem and I want to start Proftp.
Just made a small confi change expanded the template and :
Shutting down proftpd: [ OK ]
Starting proftpd: server.smitti.mine.nu - Fatal: Socket operation on non-socket
server.smitti.mine.nu - (Running from command line? Use ServerType standalone' in config file!) [ FAILED ]
But I want to run it on the internet...port 21 is closed for me by my isp.
