I'm running version 5.1, and experience problems when I try to connect from my Windows 98 machine with a regular user account. I get a connection, but when verifying the username and password, I get a "wrong password" error, but I'm very very sure it's the correct password. When I connect as admin and my admin password, it all works fine. Can anyone help me? I've set the number of PPTP clients to 10.

- Is there a firewall between your wn98 and SME ?
- Wich software do you use on win98 to make a VPN connection?
- Is the encyption level set to 128 bit on your win98 box?

I had lots of fun with VPN and Windows 98 and 95. My resolution was to upgrade dial-up networking to ver. 1.4 and look around on the net for the a 128 Bit Encription Pack for Dial-Up networking.
That should fix it.

Actually, I have it workin for the admin user, but I can't log in as an other user, because the system always tells me my combination of username and password is wrong, and I've tried several other things, but am sure the password is right. It is'nt because of the firewall and other settings, because I can log in as admin, so maybe it's blocked for regular users?

Did you update your win98 to 128-bit Like Chris did ?

I also had some problems with "regular" users ( this was after i made an upgrade from 5.1.2 to 5.5) . This was solved by deleting these regular accounts and re-creating them there-after. Try to create a new user and log-in with this new users credentials. Maybe this helps

I think i've seen another thread on this issue. As I recall the suggested solution was to reset the passwords of the regular user. That should tak care of the problem.

Everything is working now, thnx! It was all my fault, have 2 SME servers, and 1 router, pointing to server 2, while the accounts I created were on server 1, except for the admin user, who was on both the machines.
