Title: Email Archive
Post by: Lee Irving on December 19, 2002, 12:25:30 PM
Is it possible to send a copy of all mail received and sent through the e-smith box to an audit mailbox ?

If so how can it be done ?

I have come accross something called QMAIL-SCANNER which looks as though it will do the trick however I am not sure whether it will work with E-Smith.

Any ideas how I can accomplish this ?

Regards

Lee

Hi Lee,

I don't have an answer for you, but I'd sure like to know.  I have asked this type of archive/logging question in the past but I don't think anyone ever gave a concrete answer.  These days with logging and auditing requirements I'd be surprised if nobody else has already figured out how to do this.  Thanks for the question...and I look forward to the answers to come - guys??

Regards,
Patrick

The only suggestions I've ever seen on this topic were to set a forward in the user account panel to something like "archive@mydomail.com" and have all incoming email drop a copy in there.  This, however, does not address the outbound copying.  On qmail forums, I've seen suggestings for recompiling qmail with logging switch turned on.  I am not sure how that would impact a sme server, tho.  Good luck.
