Title: SME 5.6 Dev release from OCT 11?

If SME is making available the sme dev release, why is it dated oct 11?  SME 5.6 beta 7?  Is SME 5.6 Dev the same as beta 7?  if not, why the same date?

I am confused.

...and you would be confused, as you're looking in the wrong place.   Look in ftp://ftp.e-smith.org/pub/e-smith/releases/5.6/iso.
