Has anyone else seen this?
When I installed an SME compatiable package that I purchased
from a popular developer in these forums, it seems that an e-mail has been sent to the seller.
I don't know what the content of the email was - I just saw it in the logs that an email was sent from my box to the seller.
I would consider this Spyware since
1. I was not notified that this would be done
2. There is no option to opt out of this process.
* I'm am very thankful that SME requests permission to send an email at the end of a server install and allows me to opt-in (which is even better) unlike everyone else who makes you opt-out!.

well if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck ...

To see what is in an rpm or what actions it takes during install you can issue these commands before you install it
this needed to be documented, now it is
