Title: Streaming MP3 on my SME v5.5server (not the client)
Post by: molski on January 18, 2003, 03:17:53 AM
I managed to configure my Creative SB AWE64 ISA soundcard with sndconfig and I could hear the test sounds so that is working correct.
After that wanted to install AMP, but installing this gave me this error:

[root@brain Contrib]# rpm -Uvh amp*
Preparing...                ########################################### [100%]
1:amp                    error: unpacking of archive failed on file bin/amp: cpio: Archive file not in header
[root@molski Contrib]#

So I started looking for something else and I installed MPG123 (a part of the MPG321 rpm file) and the lib files that the package needed.
But when I try to play a MP3 file ON the server I get this error from MPG123:

[root@molski Contrib]# mpg123 1.mp3
High Performance MPEG 1.0/2.0/2.5 Audio Player for Layer 1, 2, and 3.
Version 0.59q (2002/03/23). Written and copyrights by Joe Drew.
Uses code from various people. See 'README' for more!

Playing MPEG stream from 1.mp3 ...
MPEG 1.0 layer III, 192 kbit/s, 44100 Hz stereo
Can't find a suitable libao driver. (Is device in use?)

That last line about "Can't find a suitable libao driver. (Is device in use?)". I installed this rpm libao-0.8.0-1.i386.rpm, but still getting the error.

What to do next ? Can someone help me out here ?

ThanX,

Regards,

Molski

Why don't you use Netjuke?

Jehu.

I was running 5.1.2 on the server in the last post, I will try the same on a 5.5 server for you and see how it goes,

Gavin

Thank you very much Gavin. Maybe we can do this sometime together on ICQ or MSN ??  Is it possible that you put the files that I need online ? So we are sure that we are using the exact same stuff on our servers :)

Molski
