I'm testing SME 5.6 and wanted to know if there is a way to have a distro list with external e-mail accounts. For example in exchange 5.5 you can creat a distro list and then make internal mail accounts ie john.doe@aol.com. Is there a way SME can do this. Is there a way to make Distro lists in general?
Any help would be great.
Thank You,
Marc

Marc,
Exchange is a groupware solution where as a stock SME server provides standard email services. There are several web/php based groupware solutions for SME/linux such as twiggi, phpproject, phpgroupware just to name a few.
Kolab server from the KDE people is a new replacement for exchange that runs on Redhat and several other large distros. Kolab is using Ldap to store distro lists and group information. I am not sure if Kolab is a final version yet.
Good Luck

Marc,
I'm not using 5.6 yet, but in 5.5 when you create a user, you can specify how you want e-mail delivered to that user. Choose to forward e-mail to address below, and in the box underneath it, put in the address of the person. Now, just like in exchange, this user will show up in your address book. The only difference is that the user you put in your system will show up in your address book with an address @yourdomain.com. But since you have set it to forward to this users real mail address, you should be OK.
