These appear to be important, and potentially apply to SME 5.6.  Perhaps someone more knowledgeable can confirm this.

configuration is not affected by this bug, because the ext3 file system
(the default file system in Red Hat Linux 7.2 and later) does not support
the O_DIRECT feature.
SME 5.6 uses the ext3 filesystem, so it looks like it doesn't affect us.
