I recently switched a client from SME 5.1.2 to 5.6. One of their Windows apps is a 16-bit app called 20-20. It used to be able to see long folder and long filenames on the server, but since upgrading to 5.6, the long folder names are truncated to 8.3 format. Long filenames still work under 20-20. In My Computer, long folder and filenames are visible. .
This happens only on Win95 and Win98 client boxes. On Win2K clients, the long foldernames are visible under 20-20.
Has anyone else seen this, or does anyone have a suggestion? Manually shortening the foldernames is a workaround, but a tedious one as there are hundreds of them.
Thanks,
Tom Keiser

Tom,
I have this same problem with two older 16-bit applications. The 5.6 upgrade must have changed the long-filename mangling in a way that messed up old 16-bit apps.
Have you found out anything else?
If I find something, I'll let you know.
