Title: Don't want SME to release IP given by DHCP
Post by: Danne on February 10, 2003, 01:48:34 PM
I'm on a ADSL connection and my ISP distributes IP addresses via DHCP. Thats fine by me but I'd like to hang on to the same IP as long as possible. The problem here is that SME releases the IP if I reboot or shut it down. Is there a way around this?

And another thing, the dynamic dns feature doesn't seem to work, I configured it so it should update my dyndns.org account, but it won't update the account... Is there anything that should be started for this to work or should this be done automatically?

Very grateful for answers,

Make sure your using 'dyndns.org' as the domain for dyndns...it won't work with the other free domains offered by dyndns.org.  You are using the same username and password you use to login on dyndns.org web site right?

I have this working on a 5.1.2 server using a dialup connection to Earthlink.  You might try an older version of SME if your problems are with 5.6?
