Hi all,
I've come across from time to time some sites that use multidrop mail encounter problems retrieving mails from their multidrop mailbox at the ISP. A look at the maillog shows all the failed name lookups which causes the problem.
I know the workaround is to add the 'no dns' option to fetchmail, which solves the problem. However, I'm having trouble understanding what the 'no dns' option does exactly.
Can anyone explain this in layman's terms ? The man page is far too brief and not clear enough (especially since I'm no DNS expert).
TIA !

I am no expert but from what I understand it stops fetchmail performing a dns lookup on each domain in the headers of an email
So for example if an email has ben sent to 100 people it will check to see if all 100 domains are valid. If it times out it simply leaves the message on the server.
