Title: Question about log file contents
Post by: Mike on February 13, 2003, 11:34:19 PM
I have hundreds of lines like the following in my /var/log/messages file. Any idea what causes them? I don't recognise them.

Feb 11 11:00:14 crivens identd[15841]: Successful lookup: 2300 , 6667 : www.admin
Feb 11 11:00:21 crivens identd[15845]: Successful lookup: 2301 , 6667 : www.admin

Thanks

Somebody using IRC inside the network. The port 6667 is the default IRC port.

Check google for "irc identd port 113".
