Title: SME 5.5 U2 - IDE Driver

I want to install SME 5.5 U2 on an Compaq Evo D31m. During the boot process the log says

Partition check:
hda: hda1 hda2
VFS: Cannont open root device 08:42
Kernal panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 08:42


Any suggestions?

I have seen problems like this before.

I just use a boot disk and delete ALL partitions BEFORE try to install SME!

Most of time it works.

Other thing to try: Change in BIOS from LBA to CHS mode (linux don´t care)
