I'm getting "nameserver failure" errors when fetchmail is trying to retrieve mail from my POP3 accounts. I've read Dean Mumby's reply to this problem from way back but the problem remains after trying out the fix.
Installation is 5.6.
I've edited /etc/e-smith/templates-custom/etc/fetchmail/50multi-drop
to include the "no dns\n" setting & /etc/e-smith/templates/etc/fetchmail/50multi-drop
already has the setting in it.
I've rebuilt the server in an attempt to clear this fault but it persists. I know I must be missing something obvious but I've spent ages trawling all the newsgroups I can find to no avail.
Could it be something to do with expanding the template after editing? I did this but I'm not convinced it did much .... rebooting obviously didn't help.
The multi pop rpm was the Dungog 0.1-4. version
Any help would be very gratefully received.
Beer tokens on standby.
Thanks,
John

John,
If you manually edited /etc/fetchmail and added the "no dns" setting, you could then then manually start fetchmail to see if it has fixed the problem. If it did, then worry about the templates. If manually specifying the "no dns" option in fetchmail made no difference, putting it into the templates will obviously not help either.
