Title: email error using server remotely
Post by: James Shields on March 01, 2003, 05:05:40 PM
I host a virtual domain for the local baseball association. (neba.asn.au) On the secretary's home computer, I established a mail account in OE, using "mail.neba.asn.au" for both SMTP & POP3. Username & password reflect account available on the server. Any email sent to "secretary@neba.asn.au" gets to her fine, but sending email causes errors if the recipient is not one of my domains. Example of error message below

The message could not be sent because one of the recipients was rejected by the server. The rejected e-mail address was 'ep.shields@bigpond.com'. Subject 'Test 3', Account: 'mail.neba.asn.au', Server: 'mail.neba.asn.au', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '553 Sorry, that domain isn't in my list of allowed rcpthosts.', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 553, Error Number: 0x800CCC79

Any suggestions ?

James

Yes...the server isn't allowed to relay. You could install the 'pop before smtp package' for sme < 5.5 or the secure email packages from Damien for sme 5.5 or 5.6 (sorry, I don't have the urls handy atm)

secure mail and pop before smtp URLs:
