I want to setup Hylafax on my SME 5.6 box. I used the how-to for SME 5.x and everything seems to go well, no errors or nothing. But how can I setup my internal ISA modem, certain how-to's only explain configyrations with external modems. Can somebody tell me/help me to setup Hylafax with my internal ISA modem ? Hylafax.org , e-smith.org and google didn't help me find a solution :(

Getting the internal modem to work depends somewhat on the brand of computer you are using. I would recommend you set it for standard COM1: or COM2: settings and disable the corresponding com port on your machine.
You can sometimes set the irq and interrupts for the modem to be recognized as COM3:, but this will not work on all machines. Best bet is to just go ahead and try.
I have a USR Courier V.Everything internal working on COM2:, and have also had it working on COM3:. You MAY find that to get it going on COM3: you must disable COM1:. If so, you might as well just disable COM1: and set the modem to work as COM1:.

I just tried to configure it on ttyS2 and it worked. Now I am gonna test if everything works fine and then find out how to convert all my faxes into PDF files. Maybe you could help me with that ;-)

No problem. Visit www.chaloner.ca for an overview of installing HylaFAX and the RelayFAX client.

Everything is working fine right now. My only problem now is setting up RelayFax. I need a RelayFax Printer Driver tarball, but couldn't find the tarball anywhere :(
Maybe someone could help me with this, when this works, another satisfied user of HylaFax is born :P

No tarball, You can get the Relayfax client from altn here
http://www.altn.com/Download/Default.asp
Be aware that alot of the relayfax features wont work with hylafax ie cover pages etc but it is not a bad solution. Have a look here
http://www.hylafax.org/howto/clients/RelayFax.html
under Notes on un-implemented features.

ThanX Duncan,
I ahve installed the RelayFac client on my WinXP client, but when I try to fax something I only get an email in my relayfax@mydomain.om account, it is not send to the faxnumber, can you help me with that ?
Everything else just works perfect, in a few days I release an edited how-to from Chaloner Hale that I used, but the how I installed it on my v5.6 server.

In the relayfax Personal Settings, your email address should be youremail@yourdomain.com and this should correspond with an entry in faxuserlist in /home/e-smith/files/users/relayfax/faxuserlist.
The 'Fax password on the same page should be the password you assign to youremail@yourdomain.com found in the same faxuserlist file.
Under Server Settings, the RelayFax account email address should be relayfax@yourdomain.com.

Hi Chaloner,
I have done all that, but I only get an email in my relayfax@mydomain.com mailbox with a TIF file attached to it with the fax I am trying to send. It does not get delivered at the destination fax :( On your site you are talking about a "RelayFax Tarball"that I have to install, but I could not download it cause there is a password required. Can you help me with that ? Receiving faxes works correct, RelayFax client is setup correct (I am sure about that) but only sending faxes is not working (yet).
My Regards,

I haven’t used this combination in around 6 months so I can’t remember every thing I did originally to get it to work, but it sounds like your .procmailrc file is not working properly. If you have logging turned on you should be able to see in the logs what is happening with the e-mail as it passes thru the script.
Regards Duncan

How can I turn the logging on ? Maybe I want to start over again on a new server in a few days, I did a lot of testing with HylaFax and other things on it. To get the whole Hylafax installation I want to do the installation again on this machine. How can I completely uninstall hylafax on my machine. I noticed that rpm -e hylafax leaves certain files and directory's on the machine.

Chaloner could you give me a login for this link maybe ?

Hi Chaloner,
I have visited your website www.chaloner.ca and read through the setup required for Relayfax client to work with Hylafax. I have my Hylafax running and able to fax out using WHFC client but I would like to deploy the more versatile Relayfax client. I seen from the website I will need a tar ball and the attempts to download from www.chaloner.ca/download/relayfax/relayfax.tar, it prompt me for a password. May I request you to email me the tarball instead. Many thanks upfront.
If anyone has got the tarball from Chaloner, hope can email to me as well.
Many thanks and Regards
