Recently did an install at a client running e-Smith 5.5...
squid 2.3.STABLE4-10.7.1
squidGuard 1.2.0-3
Dependencies I had to find on rpmfind.net were...
db3x-3.2.9-4
tcl-8.33
squidGuard blocks sites fine when running in isolation, but despite the redirect_program directive in squid.conf (and numerous restarts), squid does not seem to call it..
redirect_program /usr/bin/squidGuard
should work fine? :| but it doesn't get called... ?
Ideas, please, anyone? :)

Squid is already installed and should be running in transparent mode by default. You might look for squidguard 3.1.

There is a newer version of squidguard out on squidguard.org, but we haven't really felt it necessary to upgrade the contrib. Has a server-manager panel for add/removal of custom sites, as well.
Hope that helps.

It is indeed the default install of squid.
Why I am hesitant to try a newer version is because what seems to be happening is there is nothing in the logs to indicate that Squid is running squidGuard (as it should), so t'would seem the problem is on Squid's side? :|

Squidguard 3.1 also installs a control link in the SME server manager. To test squidguard, simply attempt to surf www.playboy.com from any computer using SME as a gateway/router/proxy. It will show ACCESS DENIED if squidguard is running. I have used Squidguard on SME 5.0 & 5.1.2. I tested it on 5.6 and it appeared to work.
