There is a kernel-source RPM at http://mirror.contribs.org/smeserver/contribs/dmay/mitel/contrib/dev-tools/SME56/. Is that not what you need?

not exactly. this kernel is way to old and hasn't included the HTB module i need.
meanwhile i compiled the newest RH 7.3 kernel but have some problems with the boot structure SME 5.6 uses, namely the use of an initrd.img file while booting.. but that's just a matter of reading the manuals for which i haven't had time until now..
but if someone is willing to enlighten me...

I tried a straight RedHat 7.3 kernel binary RPM and it would boot OK but several services didn't work (including the server manager)
