Hi,
A good place to start is http://wiki.contribs.org/LinkBase/
Secondly the latest version of PHP may not always be the best. I believe I read somewhere it broke a couple of things if installed (e.g. webmail). Also take a look at devinfo on this site you will probably come across the message I got this info from. Don't know which one it was but its recent (pas 2 months or so).Oh, and don't forget to search this forum... lots of info here.... just takes a little time to read but its worth it.
Regards,
Jan

Yes i have done so in 5.5
Download the new version from 5.6
1. apache
2. curl (a new rpm not present in 5.5 but in 5.6)
3. php
Now upgrade apache ,then install curl & then upgrade php
Ur work is done ! Enjoy!
