Hello everyone,
Is it possible to add a 'semi secure' LAN segment to a SME server running in server/gateway mode? If so, how would this be set up? Anyone already have this kind of thing running?
I'd like to allow another department running on a different network to access the SME server to utilize the proxy server/Internet access and allow several users from that department to access i-bay shares. But I don't want to have this connection be totally open into my LAN.
Basically I'd like to be able to control the access and route the traffic coming into the SME LAN from this other departments network. I know there is setting in SME to add another 'local network', but I'm not sure exactly what access that gives and how that is implemented. That 'local networks' option may not give me the security I'm looking for either.
Thoughts/ideas are greatly appreciated.

Drew,
You may want to take a look at the following URL: http://www.e-smith.org/contrib/rpm-index/RPM-e-smith-service-control-1.1.0-01.src.html
This will add a services pack to the server-manager admin screen and give you the flexibility to control certain services.
Otherwise you may need to add an additional router and bridge and control the services of the second LAN via NAT.
I hope this helps but I am not sure the entire scope of what you are trying to accomplish.
