Title: SOCKS5
Post by: Chris on March 17, 2003, 05:48:40 AM
I am wondering if someone can recommend a good socks package so i can use ICQ, Netmeeting, and IRC features. I realize that the new 2.4.x is lacking modules for support but heard that SOCKS5 would be a work around. Can anyone help?

Haven't yet found any documentation for the RPM or help to get it working on 5.6 in http mode, however, almost everything except the browser seems to be able to use it here.

From the same site:
All these packages are tested for use on Mitel SME 5.6.

Yes, that's the readme in the directory the URL I posted points to.  My comment was addressed to the fact that this is all the info I have been able to find out about this *.rpm and its application to SME.  The issue I have is that everything except my browser seems to be able to access the outside world via this socks server and I am not sufficiently 'clued in' to find out 'why?'.
