Title: named eating memory on SME 5.6
Post by: Gary Parker on April 14, 2003, 06:18:03 PM
Hi folks...one of my e-smith machines has started playing silly buggers just recently and named appears to be at fault.

The machine at home is a 2xPPro200 with 256Mb RAM and has 5 named processes running (one of which using 100% CPU on one of my processors), using about 15Mb of memory each and rarely has more than 3 users at a time using it. This compares to another e-smith machine I run at work with about 20 users on it (P233/192Mb) which has 5 named processes using about 5Mb each and barely registering on the CPU. Restarting the named service doesn't sort it, neither does a reboot.

Both machines are running SME 5.6 with all the stuff in update3 installed.

Anyone got any ideas what's going on here?

Gary
