I have tried to install VM GSX server while ago. It almost worked after a lot of dependences hunting. By the time then it was almost done I ended up with almost full install of Redhat :-) and gave up. Other way aroung SME on VM works great in on any host. With prices on VMware GSX server and hardware you can run SME on its hard to justify the effort.

VMware GSX 2.x on 5.6 should work fine -- we've had a demo running
on an SME Server here. You will probably need to install gcc and the
kernel source in order to build the VMware modules, as it doesn't ship
with recompiled modules appropriate to the kernel SME Server uses.
