Title: max number of attempts for dialup
Post by: julian on April 30, 2003, 12:38:50 PM
Hi All,
I'm fairly new to e-smith and linux, but keen to know more. I have an e-smith (5.6) that I want to put at a remote office so that it can dial-in an provide as a gateway to the main office.
With the current system we had a problem whereby the  dialup kept  dialling up on a public holiday and the main office was off. $1500 in one day!!!
Is there a way that I can limit the e-smith to x number of attempts (say 5)?

What script/template do I modify?
TIA
Cheers
Julian

I have a script for that, I will e-mail it off list.

Not exactly what you asked, Julian, but another way of minimizing the financial damage is to increase the interval between dial up attempts in the template fragment

/etc/e-smith/templates-custom/etc/diald.conf/redial-timeout
