Title: Maillog remains empty!

Using e-smith SME 5.12, can not retrieve information on the mailserver as the maillog is empty.
Desperately want to fix this without the need to do an upgrade to 5.5/5.6 at this time. What must I check to get the logging back up again?

As far as i have seen, and I've only upgraded to 5.6 SME about 3 weeks ago, maillog is no longer really used, except when there are errors connecting to an external mail server - I use mail-drop.
The file that I look at now, which is far more untidy is
var/log/qmail/current
It also is nowhere near as descriptive.
