Title: Customised branding and licencing
Post by: GM on May 16, 2003, 02:11:08 PM
I am plannning on selling a remotely supported application server and not surprisingly SME Server is a perfect fit.

I'm interested in branding the sme server interface.  Does anyone know if this is premitted under the licence.

In the more general case what can and what can't I do to the distro?  I realise that this is a pretty vague.  I realise that I will be bound by the licening of the underlying components but I thoughts are running along the lines of .. Mitel based thier distro on Redhat can I base mime on Mitel...?

I'm also thinking of developing something along the lines of the Mitel AMC.  This will be a little down the road yet but has anyone got any thoughts?

Thanks in advance

Yes, you can.  You can modify any of the GPL'ed RPMS according to the gnu license.  There are a few RPMS that are copyright Mitel.  These can't be touched as they are proprietary technology.

Thanks for the reply Hugh.  I was beginning to think I was talking to myself!

So can I definitley mod the web interface and stamp my logo all over it?

Also, do you know off the top of your head which rpms they would be so I can read the licence.

Thanks again
