Hi All,
I tried running software raid (2 western digitial 80 G harddrives), on
SME 5.6.
Runs like a dog. raid1d seems to chew through CPU time even on a pentium 4.
The system is too slow to be workable.
I loaded up using SME 5.5 and it works fine after you get around the single/multi processor issue (see http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=5040.msg17707#msg17707).

make sure you put each harddrive on a different controller
i.e controller 1 harddrive 1
controler 2 harddrive 2
and give it time to resync before using it .
80 gig will take about 24 hours to resync after that it will be fast.
