Title: server-resources - a mystery
Post by: Ruusvuu on May 21, 2003, 08:55:58 AM
I just noticed a new folder in /home/e-smith/files called server-resources with a subdirectory of regedit and 2 files in that.

Unfortunately I deleted the whole directory immediately and then thought of posting this - I wish I had read the contents of those two files, which were called something like winxpregister and win98register or something

I have no winxp boxes on my network and this directory was created by the root user - but not me - and I am the only one with root access

I subsequently changed my root password

Any ideas?

Ruusvuu,

You are using 5.6 right, well on 5.6 it contains 2 registry entries for windoze boxes to stop them from saving the password, i _think_ as I do not use 5.6, but thats what they were for, I think.......

OH!

I upgraded a couple of weeks ago!
And I don't use pptp (to my knowledge) - heck I don't even know what it stands for ( - :, though a quick search on Google would give me the answer.

Anyway, your reply eases my conscience SIGNIFICANTLY!!!

Thank you!

Ray!

I did do a search for server-resources first, but I guess because it's surrounded by / in your post it didn't return anything - and I searched all dates.

Thanks
