I would like to run a Mitel 5.5 Server via AOL-DSL in Germany. As with a t-online account, it should be able to handle VPN, DynDNS and mail-traffic.
In this case I cant change to the german Telecom - so please dont give me any hints in that direction.
AOL seems to use the normal PPoE protocol, used by the german Telecom for ADSL-connections - they seem to settle a vpn-like layer on the PPoE protokoll. The Windows-software seems to handle the login over this proprietary (?) VPN-protocoll but it can be substituted by pengAOL.
In the USA AOL seems to use the normal PPoE protocol. There are a lot of different statements in the net.
Any kind of help (even further details about the german/european protocol, used by AOL for ther DSL) will be appreciated.

Forget about my idea, it seems to be impossible at the moment.
There are two linux-tools available:
penggy: works with aol over analog and isdn-connection but the developers havent implemented dsl-support yet.
pengAOL 1.06: supports dsl but uses the elder (P3) protocol, therefore the download-bandwith is limited to approx. 30 Mbyte.
Maybe I´ll give it another try when penggy supports dsl.

Note particularly the bit where the spammer states that AOL sold him its
complete customer list... and the AOL VP did not deny it.
Note also that (once again) the Senate Committee is interviewing an admitted
criminal (by German law) - and not having him arrested.
You still want to use AOL?
