Title: Changing from Dual CPU to a single CPU
Post by: molski on May 27, 2003, 11:41:16 PM
My SME server v5.6 runs on a Dual Slot 1 board with 2 PII 233Mhz. Tomorrow I'm gonna get a PIII 550Mhz. Can I change the 2 PII cpu's by 1 PIII cpu's without any problems, or is that not possible ?

My regards,

Molski

Very good question.

I cannot give an answer - but look at this change the opposite way.

If you find out - please post here ;-)

Hi Molski,

I think you'll have to follow this how-to

http://myezserver.com/downloads/mitel/howto/esmith-up_lilo.conf-howto.html

and after this pull out the second CPU.

Changed the processor using the how-to that Paul posted here, only after that I get en email in my admin mailbox with these lines:

/usr/lib/sa1 1 1
Cannot append data to that file

I don't know what this means...

Tomorrow I'm gonna go on vacation. Will post further results in a week or 2 :)

See you all later.

Molski.
ps. Everything runs perfect, only that mails bother me, that is the only problem I got.

My regards,

Molski
