I have just installed 5.5 and note that my DNS Server is blank.
It is server only with an active intranet site (which works fine)
I can access the intranet using www.syvw.com.au and the server manager using www.syvw.com.au/server-manager.
I also have an SME 5.1.2 running and it is set up the same and has the DNS Server as 192.168.0.11, that is what this one should have (my thoughts)
Any help would be appreciated,
Regards
John A

Hi John,
I believe all of your information is correct...
During setup of a server-only server you have to specify a gateway. On that gateway a DNS resource is specified (e.g. SME uses root servers).
If anybody else knows better/different, please speak.

Hi RequestedDeletion,
Thank you for your reply, both the SME 5.6 and SME 5.1.2 that I have running here are setup the same via "Admin" and the 5.1.2 shows the gateway and DNS server. The 5.5 does not. This 5.5 was the 5.6 that we exchanged threads re no login at main console. When it was set up as SME 5.6 it showed gateway and DNS.
Also it will not let me delete the gateway if I do when I reboot it puts in 192.168.0.1
and yet is say that if you do not want access to the internet leave blank.

Help from anyone would be appreciated.

what values are in /home/e-smith/configuration ?
What may help after correcting values:
/sbin/e-smith/post-update
and a reboot.
