Title: Dyndns update through a Cisco DSL router.
Post by: Andy MacDonald on June 08, 2003, 11:27:48 AM
I'm going to update my connection to DSL and need to have a bit more of a clue as to how I'm going to retrieve the routers external IP address to update Dyndns.org with.
Hopefully the router will be an 827-4v or at least an 827 of some sort.
Through searching the forums, I've learned of ddclient and ipcheck.py.
Does anyone here have any experience with utilizing either of these two clients to talk to a cisco box? Any recommendations or howto's that I've not been able to find?
Any help or suggestions very appreciated.

Hi Andy,

ddclient will do the job. A very recent thread was asking a similar thing. The ddclient.conf file is fairly well documented and should be no problem configuring. You just need to set ddclient to check via the web to get your IP address.
