Title: Starting /stopping network
Post by: Emiel van Leeuwen on May 16, 2001, 04:16:13 PM
Hi all,

What's the correct syntax for stopping / starting the network on the e-smith server.
If I use service network stop / start my windhoze clients seem to get lost.

Do I have to use winifcfg to renew all the dhcp leases or am I missing the point?

Kind regards

Emiel

I'm not sure, but it seems that your dhcp server is not keeping a record of your current leases.
e-smith has an option to preserve these leases during configuration process. have you enabled this option?

You only have to start winipcfg in the windows client and click on more info. Then click release all. When you click on refresh all you will get an error that the NIC is being refreshed I thought. But after a few seconds you will get a new ip from your e-smith dhcp and your network will work again.

Or do I pass your problem/don't understand your problem? :)
