Title: Disk full, but that's impossible, what to do?
Post by: s991051 on June 11, 2003, 04:28:06 PM
I have a 40GB HD in my server with approximately 10GB of data on it, but it seems in MC that I have 364 Mb (0%) of disk space left. When I lookup the properties of the whole ibay directory with Samba from windows, I see that the actual space is 4 times bigger than the filesize. How is this possible and is there a way to bring the size back to actual filesize, with a defrag tool or something?

Well, isn't that the problem then? With quota on, you'll only see the diskspace left for that particular user, not for the entire disk. Wheter you check the properties of an ibay or the home directory doesn't make a difference; you'll always see the information of your quotum, nothing more.

Try to increase your quotum and see what happens. Keep in mind that files stored in an ibay, but with you as owner, also count for your quotum. It's the ownership that counts, not the location.
