Is it possible to enable 2 e-smith servers to do replication of data between them. They will be on the same LAN

I know rsync and it's a great tool but I think I need something more like "realtime" replication. 2 databases - 1 online - 1 offline. If the first machine crashes number 2 takes over.

Ohhh, there is a High Availability project out there somewhere for SME.  Try searching the forum.  I believe it's hosted by RequestedDeletion and his star support site.

contribs.org is your friend :>

Go to the weblinks section and search for "linux high availability" (no quotes)

That should get you where you need to go....
