Title: Incoming IP Blocking Question
Post by: epvb on July 02, 2003, 01:51:30 PM
Hello all.

A little question. I've had a bit of a search of the phorum but don't really know what I'm looking for *big newbie grin*

I'm running 5.6 in server only mode behind a hardware firewall which isn't all too configurable.

What I'd like to do is restrict access to the server to only one or two static IPs, (i.e. only one or two addresses on the net can access my server). Can someone point me in the right direction please? Is it possible?

Thanks in advance.

I think you need to play around with your hardware firewall. BTW what's the brand of your firewall. You should study also the iptables in SME 5.6...

Just a guess, might work the opposite way around.
Use hosts.allow to allow those ip addresses, and hosts.deny to deny all
