Title: SCSI hard drives sda vs sdb
Post by: Steve on July 02, 2003, 10:53:42 PM
I installed e-smith and have two 36GB SCSI HD's.

In
/etc/lilo.conf
 it shows root=/dev/sdb

Wouldn't that be the 2nd SCSI drive?  Why didn't the install choose /dev/sda?

They are both on channel a and are ID's 0 and 1.

Just trying to figure this out as I'm new to SCSI and am trying to change controllers while preserving the install.

Please disregard this post.  I misread the lilo.conf file.

it reads

boot=/dev/sda
root=/dev/sda2

I thought one of them said sdb.  I better take a break from the monitor since I'm seeing things!
