Title: printer setup (driver download)
Post by: John Alamo on July 05, 2003, 09:36:06 PM
Hi .. I recently setup my 5.6 box for print services. Both printers function fine, however, I am having trouble setting up the server to auto-download drivers.

I followed the steps at http://www.netadmintools.com/part258.html for "Point and Print in Samba", however, when I get to the point of installing the driver, I get the following error:

"The file '*.inf' on Windows 2000 Server CD-ROM is needed."

I am unable to go any further.

Setup Info -->

W2kPro client logged in as admin

smb.conf modified to add the following in [print$]:

write list = @admin

smb.conf modified to add the following in [print$] and [printers]:

printer admin = @admin

All other steps followed the "Point and Print in Samba" How-To.

Any suggestions/advise would be greatly appreciated!

PS --> I noticed print queue management stuff does not work as well (ie pause queue, delete job, etc from Windows) -- should this work or do I need to login to e-smith and use the lpr commands?
