Title: Installer only detecting 16M RAM on Compaq Server
Post by: Lars H on July 11, 2003, 03:14:59 PM
Hi,

I have a Compaq Proliant 2500 server currently running SME5.5. When I originally installed the 5.5 I had to edit the Lilo.conf file after the installation so that Linux would recognize the installed 256M of RAM.

Now I would like to upgrade to Version 5.6, but have so far been unsuccessful since only 16M is detected during the installation/upgrade process.

Can anyone help me with a "how to" make the installer recognized the full 256M at an early stage of the installation sequence. Apparently Version 5.6 requires more than 16M to run (unlike 5.5 did).

Help will be greatly appreciated !

Regards,
Lars

Erm its been a while but last time I installed SME on my old Compaq 2500 server it picked up the 64Mb RAM installed without any issues. Are you certain the RAM installed is functioning correctly?

Hi,

I HAVE run the smart start CD, but that only deals with drive (raid) setup etc. Nothing about physical RAM on the system (unless I'm mistaken).

Thanks,
Lars
