Title: 553 Sorry, that domain isn't in my list of allowed rcpthosts
Post by: Harvey Dewan on July 18, 2003, 02:50:54 PM
I am very new to this product, so I will ask for forgiveness up front.  Here is my issue.  On the insde everything works fine, on the outside I can recive mail but cannot send mail. I get the following error.  I am using ver 6 beta2.

"The message could not be sent because one of the recipients was rejected by the server. The rejected e-mail address was 'user@domain.org'. Subject 'test', Account: 'work smtp', Server: 'server.address', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '553 Sorry, that domain isn't in my list of allowed rcpthosts.', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 553, Error Number: 0x800CCC79"

Hi there
this is because your server will not relay mail that arrives from outside it's local network
i.e. it will only accept mail that is addressed to your domain when that mail comes from the outside world

you can fix this on sme 5.6 by using this contrib
http://www.lordsfam.net/downloads/production/securemail/
that'll give you authenticated smtp to allow you to relay from outside
not too sure if it'll work on 6.0 - but then you'd never be using a beta in a production enviroment anyway :-)

all the best
julian

or you can add you sending IP in the local networks section in server manager. Use a subnet of 4x255 to ensure that _only_ that specific IP can connect and send.

Can you tell me which rpm from
http://www.lordsfam.net/downloads/production/securemail/
to install? Thanks.

Hi RequestedDeletion,

Could you elaborate on your answer above. What if the two locations I intent to allow are from the Internet on each their own ISP with Dynamic IP adresses.

How do I config this in the SME 5.6 Local Networks?

Hi again,

It seems that Damien Curtain's rpms are not without problems. I have for hours been trying to update my SME 5.6 with the Securemail RPMs mentioned above and keep getting this error message.

I have then tried to download these packages, but in vain.

How to do this the easy way. I'm not too familiar with all these packages. I would like to have one package that includes everything. Getting mighty tired of this looking around for RPMs. And then when trying to install them  - there are new dependencies to worry about. What is this???

Sorry for my obvious frustration - please help

Morten

Hey there Phillip, you never mentioned you installed Secure mail before.  You were using this before?

PS-'Zuki's rule, but I'm looking into purchasing a YJ.  :)

What is happening with this thread any answers to my questions above.

Don't anybody have a flawless RPM that I can easily install on my SME 5.6?

Thanks in advance

Morten

PS my users are getting very impatient - and I have to listen to them bitch!
