Title: Alternative to Bordermanager authentication?
Post by: JG on July 28, 2003, 12:08:43 AM
I want to know if there a program for SME 5.6 that will allow or disallow specific users access to the Internet based on Novell Username (entered when logging into workstation). I thought I read about something that gets installed to the workstation and will send the logged in username to the proxy for authentication, but silly me didn't jot down any notes and further attempts to find that info have failed. Any one have any ideas?

You're thinking of identd.

Or, you can use the Squid Authentication contrib, which works real well.
