Please can anyone help, I have 2 SME 5.6 boxes connected to the net via ADSL modem / routers.
I have installed the freeswan packages and everything seemed to go fine. The tunnel comes up but I can only talk in one direction. ie, I can ping from the server to the client, but not the other way, even if I change the server to client and the client to server I can still only ping in one direction (the same direction that is, it seems to make no difference)
Has anyone had this problem? Can anyone throw some light on why this is happening?
I am finding this very bizzare indeed.
Kind regards
David.

This probably isn't a SME problem or a Freeswan problem. Check your default gateways and router settings. If you can ping in one direction, you probably have a setting wrong. We figured out our problem by taking the excellent howto from D May and drew the sample network out on a white board and added our network settings in a different color. Took those numbers off the white board and input them into the setup. A couple minutes later everything worked.
