I've installed the e-smith configured version of SA from contribs onto SME 5.5, enabled everything in the admin panel, but it appears to have no effect.
I haven't added any explicit BW list entries as my main problem is random-address garbage spam. But I would have expected some intervention based on the heuristics.
Am I likely to be missing anything obvious, or where's the best place to start debugging? This is my first experience with SA, so any tips would be welcome.
TIA

Check to see if SA is running:
# /etc/rc.d/init.d/spamassassin status
Check your e-mail message headers for tags similar to these:
X-Spam-Status: ...
X-Spam-Level: ...
X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 2.55 (1.174.2.19-2003-05-19-exp)
If you do not see these headings then SA is not working. Check your user procmail set up and recipes.

Ah - thanks. I hadn't quite twigged to the dependency of SA on procmail, and hence user-manager in order to enable it.
Having installed UM and turned on procmail I'm getting the X-Spam-* headers, so it's trying. Now just need time to see if it sorts the wheat from the chaff :)
One point still confuses me though - the SA config panel has an option to allow per-user SA settings via user-manager. But I don't see a user panel for SA that can be turned on in the user-panel manager (if that makes sense!). What am I missing here?
Cheers

I believe that feature is not functional in the current e-smith implementation of SA by G Zartmann
