Title: Excess Downloads
Post by: Jason Ephraims on August 12, 2003, 01:36:57 PM
I currently have a firm running an sme 5.6. They run a metered ADSL connection and currently they are having excess download problems. It is comming from a workstation ie there is sombody on the network doing a lot of downloading. I want to put a monitor on the sme that will tell me who ie which ip address is doing all the downloads and at which time. Do you know of any applications that can monitor this for me.
THanks

you could use IPTRAF search the forums, has been posted many times or go over to http://contribs.org.

Or you could use squidguard at end of night will give you a report of which IP number has visted any URL and how many time, for how long and how much has been downloaded from that IP address.

Again search the forums or take alook at contribs.org

Sorry but I couldnt rember where I downloaded from.

Hope this helps

You want squidguard and SARG.

This will display usage, bytes in, etc. by IP address.
