Title: Dell PowerEdge 1750 NIC question

I've got a problem with the onboard dual Broadcom 5704 Gigabit NICs in a new Dell PowerEdge 1750 server. Basically, SME 5.6 doesn't see the NICs as being there. On installation, I tried to get it to use the tg3 module with no success. I have therefore downloaded from Dell's support site the source tarball for RH 7.2 and 7.3 (Bcom_LAN_60_RHSrc_02.tar.gz) for the Broadcom NetXtreme adapter family (the adapter is a model 5704, according to Dell).

I've unpacked that tarball and compiled the driver without apparent problems, but when I try to load the driver, I get the following:

insmod src/bcm5700.o
src/bcm5700.o: init_module: No such device
Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters

This seems to indicate that either the driver is wrong or the NICs can't be seen - but both are showing their link lights when connected to the LAN. I've checked the BIOS and all seems fine there.

Has anyone any experience of these NICs, or of this PowerEdge model?

I'd appreciate any insights.

I found the driver on my machine, I just had to tell it which one.

I have a Dell 1600SC with the same card.

I had this issue with a Dell server.  I found an rpm that can be installed from floppy or ftp if your at your SME server...using the second nic card to access the internet.  

I simply ran the rpm, then shutdow, change the cat5 cables if you need to, then reboot and login as admin to reconfigure the system.  It will see the adaptor as anyother nic card.

This rpm installs the intel epro 1000 drivers, so other brand nics won't work with this rpm.

I have an ftp server with this rpm, but you can search this forum to find out how to get it.
