Title: PDC connection fix. v5.6
Post by: Peter on August 15, 2003, 12:23:51 AM
Hi all,

newbie alert.

I have been playing around with two esmith servers for a while now but not doing anything fancy. We currently have a MS PDC and want to get rid of it and use an exsisting 5.5 server. So I set up a new esmith server running 5.6 and made it a PDC of its own new domain, I happened to have a 'spare' XP Pro client so went through all the faf of getting it to see the domain and everything went to plan tells you you are welcome to the domain etc, until...you try and login to the domain then it says you it cant find the PDC or the clients computer does not have an account on the domain, lies all lies.

I had a little browse for 'samba PDC and XP Pro' and low and behold a little reg edit solves the problem-

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Netlogon\Parameters]
"requiresignorseal"=dword:00000000
"signsecurechannel"=dword:00000000

I have tried it and it does indeed work, but is it any good?

Cheers,

Peter.

Have a look in /home/e-smith/files/server-resources/regedit. You'll be pleasantly surprised ;-)

I don't seem to have the server-resources folder referred to above...

Why would this be the case?
