Title: Unable to use WWW
Post by: bowler200 on May 30, 2001, 01:51:01 PM
Am I missing something?, I have V4.1.2 running happily as a gateway server on my small home network, this is currently not connected to the outside world as it is mainly used for development. When I address the e-smith box with the IP address all is well and it talks to me on my Win98 box, however when I address the e-mith box using www.xxx.com then it totally ignores me and gives page not found, any suggestions.

What DNS Settings do you have set on your 98 workstation ?  In order to resolve the "www" to a host you must have the E-Smith server listed in your dns settings.

Added translation to hosts file on windoze machine, now www.xxx.com works from win machines, however streaming mp3s from the e-smith server fails when using winamp, winamp never finds the server.
