Hi,
I just installed version 3.1 on a pentium 450 with 2 intel nics. The installation process went well up until I tested the internet connection with failed. I have a dedicated connection and I know it is not the nics since the same machine was running Mandrake-Linux 6.1 without a problem. any ideas as to what I did wrong?

I'd need more information to work out exactly what is going wrong. Have you logged in on a login console (alt-F3) and checked for interfaces with "ifconfig -a" and looked in the log files?
With two identical NICs I'm not sure how the kernel decides which is eth0 and which eth1. Perhaps the system is trying to
reach the Internet on your LAN connection.

I had the same problem with my installation. I also had 2 identical NICs (3Com 905) that I knew were working.
It turns out that the NIC I had decided to connect to the Lan was the one that e-smith was using to connect to the internet. I only discovered this by trying to connect and wacthing the lights on the NICs themselves flicker.
Hope this helps

I agree this is what I saw. I even changed one of the nics to a Linksys Tx100 and the same thing is happenning.
