Title: How to add a service to the auto start list service list
Post by: Paul T.C.Fung on August 18, 2003, 10:31:22 AM
Dear all,

Just play around with the socks5 server, and I get it running well.  Thanks for the good work !!

But I got a problem with the auto start up of this services.  I want to add the socks5 server to be auto startup in rc7.d and found that all the simlink in the /etc/rc7.d are linked to /etc/rc.d/init.d/e-smith-service and are not the way I know in Redhat.......

Can any experianced user here tell me how to add a new service to the start-up list ?

Also, if I got a new service like npulse which I want it to be auto startup, how can I set it in the system, (as "npulse" didn't look like a service to me......)  Do I have to set a cron job ??  or I can have a way to do so...... ??

Thanks !!

Best Regards,

Paul T.C.Fung

Haven't tried what you mentioned coz my testserver is down.
Maybe you can try the 2 lines below

/sbin/e-smith/db configuration setprop servicename status enabled
/sbin/e-smith/signal-event console-save
