Hi,
I have a database wich is in reality a .mdb file that is store in a ibays called "bdadmin". I can use it, work with it. But, I have a problem, randomely, all the PC on the LAN are disconnected from the database, for about 1 sec. which cause a "Disk Error or Network Error" message in M$ Access.
The solution I found was to quit access and restart it, but 2-3-4 times by day, it's verry annoying for our user. I want a permanant solution !!
Anyone can help me ?
Thank you !! Ask what you want (log, etc) if you need it.

And what sme version are you using? Have you installed any additional RPMS? What do your logs say? (/var/log/samba).

I have previously monitored the Samba listserves and this issue has come up frequently. Sorry I can't give you an answer here, but you may want to search the listserves and/or www.samba.org.

I'm using a Stock SME 5.6. I installed PDF Over LAN and that's it. I looked into the samba list and fount nothing usefull !

Have you applied the latest updates to 5.6? This is straight from the Samba 2.2.5 "What's New" txt file:
"22) Return NT_STATUS_OBJECT_NAME_NOT_FOUND for ENOENT. This fixes the bug of running the Microsoft Access executable (msaccess.exe) and database files from a Samba share documented in the 2.2.4 release"

How can I know wich Update is apply ?? I remember to have install an Update, but... do not remember which one...
Thank you.

The updates are cumulative. Apply the most recent and you'll get 'em all.

Where to get it since ftp.e-smith.org doesnt work ? maybe the FTP is down...
Thank you

You must install this latest update for Samba to work correctly with Access (and other windows programs). Go here and retreive it:
ftp://ftp.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/e-smith/updates/5.6/Update4/RPMS/
Good Luck
